Angry Faic

It’s kind of ironic that I just reviewed Marvin Spectrum last week, as this week we now have Angry Faic. Angry Faic is another color-based minigame, where you must change your character's color with asdf as the game progresses to stay alive.
Angry Faic is all about combos. You control a yellow ‘angry faic’ that drops from the top of the screen. From the sides of the screen come random, smaller smiley faces (emoticons) that you must land on to destroy. Landing on one pops you into the air, where you must maneuver and try to land on another one. If you miss your combo ends, and you’ll fall through the bottom and reappear at the top. A new color is added each level, up to level four (yellow, blue, purple, green). You can only land on a smiley face if it matches the same color as your angry faic. Otherwise you’ll lose a life and your combo will break. Combos earn you more points, and you'll move to the next level after a certain amount.
Don’t expect any groundbreaking graphics here, we’re dealing with smiley faces after all. That said however I really like the ‘rotational faces’ touch that was added to the game. All the small faces will rotate to view you as you bounce around, in a pseudo-3d fashion. Same with your angry faic, it will rotate depending on what direction you press. The faces themselves look nice, as do the explosion effects, but unfortunately we’re stuck with a solid black background. The sound loop is decent but gets old quick in my opinion, but it can be turned off.
I have to give the nod to Marvin Spectrum on this one. Not only for being the original one, but offering a bit more varied gameplay. Angry Faic doesn’t have any additional modes or anything to unlock. I prefer playing Angry Faic sometimes though, due to the fact that it doesn’t require as quick of reflexes in regards to changing colors. It supports high scores as well. All in all, a good minigame.
