Accumulate

Simple graphics, but still worthwhile |

If you took a glance at my ratings below, you might think I didn't like this game. But this is untrue. What I'll say is that a number of things were spared in making this game, but that the easy-to-learn 'dodge and collect' gameplay holds Accumulate together.
The graphics couldn't get much simpler - primitive shapes were used as the actors. The sound was barely there - one audio track and not a sound effect to be found. Still, the game is worth playing. Why? Because these are things that accomodate a big production. Accumulate is a casual game that you're probably not expected to get wildly absorbed in, so it gets away with not having elaborate graphics or sound. That's not to say that they would have hurt the game.
One area where I would have liked to see more depth was in the pickups. There were only a few different kinds, and they just altered one little variable about the game. It would have been neat to see one that swapped the green and red circles, or made your square jitter. The greatest saving grace of the game, though, is that you can set your own pace. Cautious players can take it slow and easy, while high-risk gamers can jackknife all over the board.
So for the few moments it takes to play a round, I'd suggest you give Accumulate a try.
